Vladimir Grijakovic's Obituary
Vladimir Grijakovic was born to Serbian Orthodox parents, Marko and Ljubica (Opacic) Grijakovic, in Tusilovici (Kordun), some 14 kilometers from Karlovac, Croatia, on March 18, 1934.
He immigrated to the United States of America in 1969 and had lived in San Diego most of his life. Vladimir was member of Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church in San Diego, California, and participated in many ministries, predominantly singing in the parish choir. He thoroughly enjoyed the choir trips and performances throughout America. He had a great appreciation for classical and Serbian music. Fine dining was also a part of his life, finishing many meals with his favorite dessert, French crepes.
The most recent highlights of his spiritual journey and cultural experiences were pilgrimages/trips: to Russia (2017), Holy Land (2018) and Serbia (2019). They gave him the strength and courage to continue his positive outlook on life, looking forward to his next trip. His axiom was: “Every day, better and better!”
Vladimir fell asleep in the Lord on Monday, August 24, 2020 in his residence in San Diego, after being cared for by his St. George community. He heroically battled with cancer for several years without major treatments or surgeries.
May Vladimir’s memory be eternal! Vjecnaja pamjat!
Survivors include his St. George parish family, his nephews in Serbia, Vladimir and Stevan Licina (Vladimir's sister's sons) and his great niece, Dr. Jelena (Dr. Zoran) Kurepa from Texas.
