I am so sad that we were unable to attend Stephanie's funeral. I think of her everyday and am so grateful for our friendship and the time I was able to spend with her.

Stephanie was a passionate contributor to the community of those of us who have had or are living with lobular breast cancer. Even while going through her treatments and as her metastasis progressed, she inspired me with her commitment to joining our efforts to help raise awareness of lobular breast cancer, and educate others about this breast cancer type that so desperately needs more research. I am sorry that she was not able to be with us long enough to benefit personally from the new metastatic lobular breast cancer studies that are finally beginning to open in the US. I am also sorry that I was only able to meet Stephanie on zoom. I have learned so much more about her from her obituary - what a cool person she was on all fronts! I am sorry to not have met her pre-lobular breast cancer. I will miss her. It is because of amazing people like Stephanie who are still being taken by this horrible breast cancer type that I remain fervently committed to LBCA's work to raise awareness and get much more research focused on this breast cancer type to eradicate it. Carlo, please accept my love and thoughts for you and your family in this sad, hard time. -Laurie Hutcheson, LBCA
I will always remember the first time I met Stephanie, our family traveled by car from Grand Rapids, MI to Albuquerque, NM to visit with Aunt Marie, Uncle Gerald, and Stephanie. Stephanie was about 2 years old and overwhelmed by 5 rambunctious cousins charging into her world, making noise, and interacting with her. Eventually, she warmed up to us! That cute little blonde with the curly hair, she resides in my memories and always will. Over the years, I watched her grow from afar and I admired her talent and resilience as she faced the loss of her parents. Stephanie may be gone, but she will be with us through the legacy she left behind in her children and those she loved.
