I'll never forget the kindness that Brother Davis bestowed up my dad David Doyle and myself. I know that my dad was difficult, and yet Dix was always kind to him, anyway. Growing up knowing Dix and his family, I just remember how he always had a smile on his face and could make others laugh.
He was always fun to be around and he made you feel special.
He had a very tender heart and I remember he would sometimes get embarrassed when he became emotional when expressing his sweet testimony. I found it very moving and truly appreciated him being willing to share, who he really was underneath.
He will always be remember and loved in our hearts and memories.
I remember during my institute days (around 2005) when Dix and Lynn performed for a talent show of some sort. Dix was singing and playing an instrument (ukulele, perhaps?) while Lynn, dressed in white overalls, used a paint roller to literally PAINT Dix as he sang, unphased. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen!
We think of Mr Davis whenever we look at Captain Moroni in the Poway High gym. He was curious and genuine and warm in all of our interactions. I'm glad to have known him and know he will be missed by many.
When I was a missionary serving in the Carlsbad, CA area, I was blessed to interact with Brother Davis on occasion on Sundays. I'll never forget his warm smile and positive nature. He was always welcoming, which to me was always appreciated.
