Ruthie Nessleroad's Obituary
Ruthie Nesselroad went to heaven 12/18/22. She was born in North Platte, Nebraska September 14, 1931 to Vince and Cynthia Wilane. The family moved east to Omaha, then Goshen, Indiana, Kansas City, Missouri, Springfield, Mo. and back to Kansas City where she attended 5th-7th grades and graduated from Southeast High and Kansas City Junior College where she met Jack. She attended Tabernacle Baptist Church with him and met his friends and family. They married in Jack’s family’s home prior to Jack’s draft into the Army. When he came home from Basic Training, she became pregnant, and Jack was sent on a troopship to Korea just as the war was winding down. Their son, Jeff, was born nine months later. Jeff was 7 months old when Jack came home. Julie, Jeff’s sister was born 2 years and 9 months later. Husband, Jack, earned his college degree at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Once the children were in school, Ruthie went to the University to complete her own college.
After going to California for many vacations, the family moved there when Jack’s company transferred him in 1965. Ruthie taught in Dublin School District in the Bay Area for nineteen years. Ruthie retired early due to some health problems, which eventually resolved. She taught Sunday School at Parkway Baptist in Dublin until the family changed churches to help establish Gatetree Baptist in Danville. Ruthie also served as a Children’s Leader and Assistant Children’s Supervisor in Bible Study Fellowship in Livermore during her retirement. Once Jeff and Julie were grown, Ruthie and Jack advanced from tent camping trips every summer to more extensive, international travel for many years. They also cared for Ruthie’s mother, Cynthia when Cynthia needed help, at her home in Sun City, AZ, finally bringing Cynthia to San Ramon to live with them until her death.
Ruthie and Jack relocated to San Diego in 2006 to live at the Casa de las Campanas, a senior community that Jack’s sister, Orlene, had moved to when her husband, Bill passed away. Orlene and Bill had helped care for Jack’s parents when they needed care and had been supportive of Jack and Ruthie through the years, so when Orlene needed love and support, they were able to be there for her after she was widowed.
Ruthie is survived by her husband of 70 years, Jack Nesselroad, son Jeff Nesselroad (wife Bebs) of Dublin, granddaughter Emily Slade (husband Dustin) of Los Angeles, granddaughter Lindsay Nesselroad of Colorado, Ruthie and Jack’s daughter, Julie Bonderov of Bakersfield, grandchildren, Tassia Fahsbender (Brian), great grandchildren, Aurora, Cyrene, Eros, and Idris Fahsbender of Oregon, and grandson Ivan Bonderov (Natalie Castillo Ruiz), currently of Missouri after 4 years in the Army, including duty in Korea like his grandpa, Jack.
Ruthie’s chosen hymn for her memorial service is, “When We All Get to Heaven”. Her greatest desire is to see her Savior and her loved ones all together again. God loved the world so much that He gave His beloved Son that anyone who believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life.
