Jane Waardenburg's Obituary
Jane ( Sjaan) Waardenburg was born on September 20, 1927 in Oud-Beijerland, Netherlands to Jacob and Marie Goudswaard. She had 3 brothers and 4 sisters; she was the 4th out of 8 children. After meeting Jan (John) in church, they dated for a while and were married on May 11, 1949. On January 6, 1958, they immigrated to the United States with 3 children, Ria, Jake, and Marjorie.
When they arrived to the States through New York by boat, they traveled to Santee, CA. After living in Santee for a few years, they moved to Ramona where Jan worked on a goat farm and they had their 4th child, Janella. They moved a few more times in San Diego County before ending up in Escondido where they had 3 more children, Louella, Henry, and Christina. Jan and Sjaan loved gardening together. They had so many flowers in their yard that people would stop by just to admire their beautiful garden. In addition to gardening, Sjaan enjoyed knitting everything from scarves to purses for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and did it all from memory without using patterns. Most of all, she loved her Savior and felt blessed to be a mother and grandmother to her family. She felt strongly as a mother and grandmother, it was her responsibility to pray for her children and grandchildren every day. It brought her so much joy, she always said, "my children are my life!" She truly lived her life that way. Honest!
On Monday, June 27, 2022, at the age of 94, Sjaan's faith became sight and was taken home to glory during the evening. The Lord blessed her with 7 children, 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Sjaan is survived by 1 brother in Carson City, Nevada.
