I met Jackie only a time or two waaay back in the 80s after she had been widowed. She was so bright, witty and vivacious. Her husband, “Donnie” was in my life as a child - as he was a good childhood friend to my brother, Frank Galeener (Compton High School class of 1954). My brother was 9 years my senior so my exposure to Donnie was limited - but I remember how much my brother would speak so highly of him and his inherent intellect… just so smart! And my brother recognized brilliance, himself being a “smart one” too - who attended MIT obtaining a BS and MA there in physics - and later, a PhD in physics from Purdue. But getting back to Jackie, I’m glad I found her! And am regretful I never got to see her again - especially with her passing so recently. Donnie’s parents had been friends and neighbors of my family during my growing-up years in Compton. Years later, my husband, mother and I were so pleased to drop by their home in Escondido area - for a brief visit of an hour or so. Mr and Mrs Brisbin took us into their backyard and picked, for us, the largest and most delicious oranges I’d ever eaten in my life. They were so proud of their orange tree - and for good reason! :) ***** This life passes by so quickly, so enjoy every moment. I am pleased to have known the Brisbin family, even though it was so many years ago now. They were special people and Jackie was an equally wonderful person. God rest her soul in the arms of her angels - and reunited with her Donnie forever.
