Eva Shirley Emmons' Obituary
Eva Emmons, 91, of Escondido, CA, passed away at home on October 21, 2022, surrounded by her family. Eva was born in Kentucky on September 6, 1931, to Howard and Esther Goodrich as the oldest of 4 children. She married her husband Bill on June 13, 1952 and moved to New Jersey shortly after, where she resided most of her life while raising her family. While living in New Jersey, Eva dedicated her time to serving her church community. She served as President of American Baptist Women of New Jersey from 1978-1982, the President of American Baptist Churches of New Jersey from 1984-1986 and was the National Chairwoman of White Cross and World Service from 1988-1991.
She loved traveling the world with her husband and visiting her grandchildren as often as she could. Along with traveling, Eva loved gardening, shopping with her granddaughters and watching “Say Yes to the Dress”. After moving to Escondido in 2009, she enjoyed stays at the Hotel Del Coronado or talking on the phone for hours and catching up with friends and family near and far. Eva loved the finer things in life and never met a dessert she didn’t like. Above all, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as a dedicated New York Giants fan.
Eva is predeceased by her husband, Bill Emmons, sisters Patsy Emmons and Arlene Brinkman. She is survived by her brother Bud Goodrich (Dorothy Goodrich) of Kentucky, son Mark Emmons (Susan Giovati) of Ann Arbor, Michigan and daughter Holly Nolan (Robert Nolan) of Escondido, California. She leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Michael, Scarlett, Matthew, Mary and Sarah as well as numerous nieces, nephews and 5 great grandchildren. Eva also leaves behind her best friend and family dog, Juliet. She will be missed tremendously.
A service in her honor will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1500 S. Juniper, Escondido, California.
