Beth Dowd (Wickliffe)
Grandma Libby is what she was to me and she loved me fiercely. I have some beautiful memories of her...
I will never forget the peanut butter and bacon sandwiches she would make my brothers and I. I remember her smothering me with kisses. I remember the cuddles. She was always losing her glasses, despite having a cord for them, to wear around her neck. I remember her telling me how important it was to wear sunglasses to prevent wrinkles and then buying me a pair. I remember her lifesaver mints and how delighted I was when I got to have one. I remember a little bluebird of happiness pin that she gave me for my birthday. I remember the few times I got to sit at her dressing table as a little girl. I remember her hair combs...
She was a beautiful, spitfire of a woman and I wish I could have gotten to know her better and spent more time with her. You are forever in my heart, Grandma Libby.
Much love and a smothering of kisses,
Beth Wickliffe (now Dowd)
