Charlie Wetzel passed away suddenly on December 3, 2023, at the age of 58. He was born in San Jose, California to parents Raymond John Wetzel and Patricia Ann Wetzel. He is survived by his wife, Julie, of 33 years; sons, Robert an Read Obituary
Kay and I were so shocked and saddened to hear Charlie had passed away. He was so young and full of life. We will always remember Charlie as a devoted husband, father, friend, and a faith filled man of God. We cannot begin to recount the many ways he supported our Church, our parish, and our community. He set an incredible example of what it meant to be a Christian in so many ways and he will be truly missed by all.
Kay and I have such wonderful memories of Charlie from all of the Knights of Columbus activities, parish events, serving together on the parish council and singing together in our choir. We can still see his smiling face as he prepared grilled cheese sandwiches for the Lenten Fish Dinners or grilling burgers for so many parish festivals and other events. Charlie was definitely one of a kind and we will never enjoy Toro (Sushi) again without thinking of him.
Our prayers are with you, Julie, and your family as you go through this difficult time. Please remember that Charlie is with our Lord. Also, please remember that he will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and fellow parishioners. He was unforgettable!

Charlie was a great guy and one of my best friends. It is truly a blessing that my sister Julie brought Charlie into my life.Two memories come to mind that best depict Charlie.
The first time was when I went to an A’s game with Charlie and his brothers (Charlie’s Dad knew some of the AL umpires so we got great seats behind home plate!). I was in awe of the great seats and casually mentioned to Charlie that the only way we would get a foul ball is if it went straight up. He calmly said “like this one” and he stuck out his hand and caught the foul ball. Charlie then gave his patented smile and laughed. I was just amazed and gave Charlie a high five.
The second time was when I went on a ride-along with Charlie for a college project. I was honored to see Charlie in action as a Pacifica Police Officer. We had a few typical calls. Then towards the end of the night Charlie received a “domestic” call. When we arrived at the house I started to exit the police car. He stopped me and said “not this one.” After a little while later he came back to car and simply said “you never know what will happen with these calls”. That said it all.
Charles was a man of few words, however you quickly knew the man he was by his actions. Charlie was a doer not a talker, and one of my best friends. I love you Charlie. Heaven got a good one.
Charlie was always seen at our parish either cooking something great for the Knights various functions or helping with sacristan duties. He was always smiling asking how I was doing and it felt great to be greeted by Charlie. May he Rest in eternal peace. Prayers for Julie and the family.
