It is with profound sadness and immense love that we celebrate the life of Amador Serrato Quesada, who passed away on May 23, 2026.
Amador was born on November 9, 1946, in the small town of Acuitzeramo, Michoacán, Mexico. On December 29, 1969, he married the love of his life, Velia Serrato, beginning a beautiful journey together that would span more than five decades. Shortly thereafter, in 1970, they migrated to the United States alongside family members in pursuit of a better life and greater opportunities for future generations.
Amador was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was known for his strong work ethic and spent many years working in the agricultural fields and orchards of Southern California, where he helped provide for his family through dedication, perseverance, and sacrifice. He took great pride in his work and in the life he built for those he loved. A devoted Catholic, Amador's faith was an important part of his life. He found strength in God, remained faithful to his beliefs, and lived with humility, compassion, and gratitude.
Amador believed in working hard, doing things the right way, and taking care of his family. He was not afraid to be firm when necessary, and the discipline he instilled in his children helped shape the lives of not only his family but future generations as well. Looking back, we are grateful for the lessons, values, work ethic, and discipline he passed down to us. Behind that strong hand was a soft-hearted and loving father who wanted nothing more than for his family to succeed, remain close, and live a good life.
He found joy in life's simple pleasures and loved being outdoors. Music was a constant source of happiness and comfort throughout his life. Amador was also a passionate fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Whether watching a game on television or listening on the radio, he never missed an opportunity to follow his team. Amador was one of ten children and was preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Salud Serrato, and his sister, Consuelo.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Velia Serrato; his siblings, Imelda, Luz, Eva, Roberto, Salvador, Rogelio, Chano, and Irma; his children, Fernando and wife Letty, Eloísa, Ricardo and wife Cecilia, and Salvador and wife Yvonne; his grandchildren, Amber, Alex, Emily, Valerie, Marco, Jonathan, Tyler, Eric, Micayla, Marissa, Samuel, Andres, and Jasmine; and his great-grandchildren, Sophiah, Lavandar, Jason, Liam, Owen, Bennett, Emorie, Haven, Asher, and Ezra.
The family will receive guests for visitation and the Rosary on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary, located at 225 S. Broadway, Escondido, California 92025. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, located at 1445 Conway Drive, Escondido, California 92027. Burial will immediately follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park, located at 2640 Glenridge Road, Escondido, California 92027.

Con profunda tristeza y un inmenso amor celebramos la vida de Amador Serrato Quesada, quien falleció el 23 de mayo de 2026.
Amador nació el 9 de noviembre de 1946 en el pequeño pueblo de Acuitzeramo, Michoacán, México. El 29 de diciembre de 1969 contrajo matrimonio con el amor de su vida, Velia Serrato, comenzando una hermosa historia juntos que se extendería por más de cinco décadas. Poco tiempo después, en 1970, emigraron a los Estados Unidos junto con otros familiares en busca de una mejor vida y mayores oportunidades para las futuras generaciones.
Amador fue un esposo, padre, abuelo, bisabuelo, hermano, tío y amigo ejemplar. Se distinguió por su gran ética de trabajo y dedicó muchos años de su vida al trabajo agrícola en los campos y huertas del sur de California, donde ayudó a sacar adelante a su familia con esfuerzo, perseverancia y sacrificio. Sentía un profundo orgullo por su trabajo y por la vida que construyó para sus seres queridos. Como católico devoto, la fe fue una parte fundamental de su vida. Encontró fortaleza en Dios, permaneció fiel a sus creencias y vivió con humildad, compasión y gratitud.
Amador creía firmemente en trabajar duro, hacer las cosas de la manera correcta y cuidar de su familia. No tenía miedo de ser firme cuando era necesario, y la disciplina que inculcó en sus hijos ayudó a formar no solo a su familia, sino también a las generaciones futuras. Hoy agradecemos las lecciones, los valores, la ética de trabajo y la disciplina que nos dejó como legado. Detrás de esa mano firme había un padre amoroso y de noble corazón que no deseaba otra cosa más que ver a su familia prosperar, mantenerse unida y vivir una buena vida.
Disfrutaba de las cosas sencillas de la vida y le encantaba estar al aire libre. La música fue una fuente constante de alegría y consuelo para él. Amador también era un apasionado aficionado de los Dodgers de Los Ángeles. Ya fuera viendo los partidos por televisión o escuchándolos por la radio, nunca perdía la oportunidad de seguir a su equipo. Amador fue uno de diez hermanos y fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres, Salvador y Salud Serrato, y por su hermana, Consuelo.
Le sobreviven su amada esposa de 56 años, Velia Serrato; sus hermanos, Imelda, Luz, Eva, Roberto, Salvador, Rogelio, Chano e Irma; sus hijos, Fernando y su esposa Letty, Eloísa, Ricardo y su esposa Cecilia, y Salvador y su esposa Yvonne; sus nietos, Amber, Alex, Emily, Valerie, Marco, Jonathan, Tyler, Eric, Micayla, Marissa, Samuel, Andrés y Jasmine; y sus bisnietos, Sophiah, Lavandar, Jason, Liam, Owen, Bennett, Emorie, Haven, Asher y Ezra.
La familia recibirá a familiares y amigos para la visita y el rezo del Santo Rosario el martes 2 de junio de 2026, de 4:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m., en Alhiser-Comer Mortuary, ubicado en 225 S. Broadway, Escondido, California 92025. La Santa Misa de Funeral se celebrará el miércoles 3 de junio de 2026 a las 10:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica Resurrection, ubicada en 1445 Conway Drive, Escondido, California 92027. El sepelio se llevará a cabo inmediatamente después en Oak Hill Memorial Park, ubicado en 2640 Glenridge Road, Escondido, California 92027.
