I wanted to take a moment to share my favorite memory I have of Amador. During one of our many trips to Escondido over the years, we would find ourselves at the nursing home to visit. On one occasion we were sitting outside, remembering the good old days and I was sharing the story of how I would call his house to talk to Ricardo when we were in high school. I remember it like it was yesterday! When Amador answered the phone, I knew he wouldn’t pass the phone to Ricardo, even if he was home, but I would still ask.
When he said ‘bueno’, I asked, “is Ricardo there?” and he would say “NO!!” SOOO aggressively, and then he would hang up on me! So, when I was telling him this story, and showed him how I thought he looked when he would slam the phone down, he cracked up laughing! I remember feeling so happy that I made him laugh so hard!
Looking back, I don’t think I can remember another time feeling like that, and for this reason, it’s my fondest memory of him! I praise God for the life of Amador and am eternally thankful to have been woven into his lineage.
Because two people fell in love, our children, grandchildren and future generations continue to reap those blessings.
May he rest in peace and live in our hearts forever. -CC Serrato
