First time I met Alfonso was back in the summer of '97.
His daughter Sandy and I were in a long distance (Landline calling) relationship.
I was crazy for her and drove cross country from North Carolina to be with her.
Upon arriving, Edda, his wife did not agree with this setup (Not traditional) and she eventually allowed he to stay in the extra room with Arturo. I will never forget that and will always grateful. He was a giant among men even though he was barely over five feet tall, the reason I say this is because watching him mechanically repair things was amazing too I mean this guy could lift and move stuff almost twice his body weight! Throughout the years there have been lot of people that have benefited from the generosity and support from the Alvarado clan. Two places where Alfonso and I were most frequent were school/sporting activities (family first) and Home Depot (House projects). He was a Michelin star chef with Latin entrees and Peruvian desserts, there wasn't much this guy could not do expect for troubleshooting computers (Which was my pleasure because it meant his cooking was the award for fixing the issue.) Lastly, he was the best grandfather to his children and grandchildren and watching his interaction and involvement with them was priceless and I will hold near and dear to my heart.
Rest in paradise and love you always Alfonso,
Scott J.
