Virgil Mark Martin's Obituary
Virgil is survived by his wife of 70 1/2 years, Genevieve Martin; sons, Mark Martin (Prudy), Jim Martin (Edna), Larry Martin (Patty); and daughter, Mary Campbell (John); grandchildren, David Martin, Mike Martin, Tami McMahon, Mark Martin, Lisa Simpson, Donnie Martin, Andy Martin, Lara Perfito, Shannon Martin and Sophie Martin; 17 great grandchildren, sister, Betty Lou Miller; brother-in-law, James Mather; and several nieces and nephews. Virgil was born in Augusta, Kansas to parents Laurence and Leona Martin. Virgil attended High School and Junior College in El Dorado Kansas where he starred in football and track. As a young man he worked in oil refineries and later on as an auto mechani He was an avid sports fan and always attended his children's, grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's youth, high school and college sports. We cherish our dad's legacy of commitment and love of his family. Virgil accepted Christ as Savior at 15 years of age. We will miss him dearly, but not as those without hope. Our hope in the promise of eternal life by grace through faith in Jesus Christ our Lord.
