Violet Godlewski's Obituary
Violet Gosselin Godlewski, 98, of Escondido, CA, widow of Victor J. Godlewski, passed away on October 31, 2024. She was born in New Bedford, MA on March 25, 1926 and resided in East Hartford, CT since 1952. From 1993-2008 she was a snowbird in Hemet, CA living there 6 months a year and 6 months in CT. From 2008-2017 she lived fulltime in Hemet, CA, then moved to Escondido, CA.
She retired from Curtis 1000 in 1998. Her various jobs included Cornell-Dubilier (parts for radios), Venetian Blinds Manufacturing, Hathway Manufacturing Co (textile company), Gilt Edge (textile company), G.Fox & Co. (wrapping items),Pratt & Whitney Aircraft (welding), and Curtis 1000 Inc. (typing addresses for envelopes).
She was a member of many organizations such as: In East Hartford: St. Mary’s Guild, St. Mary’s Women’s Club, Kacey Squares, Scarlet Shady Ladies Red Hatters. In Hemet: Melody Makers, Sentimental Singers, Kut-Ups, Diamonaires, Widows Club, Sierra Dawn Women’s Club, and Ukulele Strummers.
She leaves a daughter, Susan Godlewski Pease of San Diego, CA.; niece Debra Douville of NJ, nephew Dana of Newport RI, niece Sandra of MA, nephew Wayne of CT; four grandchildren Jennifer Carpenter of Bentonville, AR, Jeffrey Pease of Austin, TX, Amanda Pease of Alameda, CA and Sara Sue Herbon of St. Petersburg, FL.; and 3 great-grandchildren Tristan Carpenter, Alida Carpenter, and Rachel Carpenter of Bentonville, AR. Her husband Victor, sons Steve and Leonard, sister Lucille, and nephew Ernest predeceased her.
She loved to sing and do needlework.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Westmont Towne Court, 500 East Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA.
Violet will be buried next to her husband Victor Godlewski at the military section of Hillside Cemetery, 162 Roberts Street, East Hartford, CT.
