Vaughn Linwood Steen's Obituary
Vaughn Linwood Steen died on May 23,2020 at the Chula Vista Veteran’s Home in Chula Vista, CA at the age of 91. He was born on August 27, 1928 in Houlton, Maine to Dale Linwood Steen and Luvie Ada Downing Steen. Vaughn graduated from Houlton High School in 1946 and received a BA in Bible with a minor in history from Bob Jones University in 1953. He served 2 years in the Army, then spent a brief time as a minster after college. Vaughn later worked as a salesman before becoming a mobile home park manager for over 30 years. He enjoyed dogs, reading, and building model airplanes.
Vaughn is survived by daughter Elizabeth Jochims and husband John, son Dale Steen and wife Jafiroh, stepdaughter Cheri Bryant, and grandchildren Amiyah, Amiroh, Rebecca and husband Michael, and Allyson. He was preceded in death by wives Hazel in 1984, Maxine, and Cecilia in 2005 to whom he was married for 29 years, as well as sisters Eulah “Rie” Rand in 2011 and Muriel Emily Briner in 2014. A private graveside service was held at Oak Hill Memorial Park on Friday, May 29, 2020.
