Valentino "Tino" Martinez Cortez's Obituary
Mr. Cortez is survived by his wife of 60 years, Annie Esquibel Cortez; eight children, Valentin Cortez, Sr. (Helen), George Cortez Sr., Daniel Cortez (Cherie), Gabriel Cortez Sr. (Cindy), Mary Boyens (Scott), Melissa Hancock (Bill), Laura Ortega (Greg) and Eva House (David); 19 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brothers, Raul Cortez Sr. (Annie) and Arthur Cortez (Lupe); sister-in-law, Rosa Cortez (Samuel) and Caroline Cortez (Manuel).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Trinidad Cortez; brothers, Samuel Cortez Sr., and Manuel Cortez Sr.; and sister Aurora Cortez. He served his country proudly during World War II in the U.S. Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He was a Prisoner of War from September 1944 to April 1945.
