Trudy Wilhelmina Konyn's Obituary
Trudy W. Konyn “Oma”, age 89, passed away peacefully, September 25, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family, in Escondido, CA. She was born June 17, 1930 in Holland, to Adrian and Theodora van der Vlugt. She married the love of her life John Konyn Sr. on September 12, 1956. They had 3 children; Trudy, Theresa and John Jr. Trudy was John Sr.’s unwavering support through their immigration to the United States in 1956, the establishment of their dairy and as a devout wife and mother. She created a loving home for her husband and family. Trudy was very dedicated to her Catholic faith and Catholic Missionaries abroad. Her hospitable spirit touched so many lives through St. Stephen’s Women’s Guild, her bingo club, breakfast group, school field trips to the dairy, neighbors and more. Trudy’s adventurous spirit allowed her to remain connected to her life in Holland and explore other parts of the world, all while remaining a proud American. She has joined her beloved of 63 years, John Sr., and is survived by her children and their spouses (Trudy and Patrick Simpson, Theresa and Richard Harrison, John Jr. and Anna Konyn) her grandchildren and their spouses (Jacob Simpson, Megan and Michael Bebow; Alicia and Adam Schneider, Christina Harrison; John Paul and Chelsea Konyn, Stephen Konyn, Luke Konyn and fiancé Justine Hall and Michael Konyn) and her great grandchildren (Elizabeth Bebow and Brynn Marie Schneider). Family, friends and all those whose lives Trudy has touched, are invited to celebrate her life on Friday, October 4th at Church of the Resurrection in Escondido, CA. Viewing; 10:00am, Rosary 10:30am, Funeral Mass 11:00am. There will be a lively reception in the church hall immediately following the mass. Donations in her memory may be made to: Church of the Resurrection (1445 Conway Drive, Escondido) or St. Stephen’s Catholic Church (31020 Cole Grade Road, Valley Center).
