Thomas Pat Olvaney's Obituary
Thomas “Pat†Olvaney, 80, passed away at his Escondido home on Sunday, January 22, 2012 surrounded by his family. Pat was a true Irishman born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1931 in Michigan City, IN. He attended the local Catholic high school where he graduated with academic and athletic honors. Pat went on to further his education at Purdue University and then married his high school sweetheart, the former Mary Jean Nespo Olvaney. Pat served in the US Navy from 1951 – 1955 and was stationed at Coronado Island, where he fell in love with the city of San Diego. In 1964, Pat and his young family moved to Escondido where they raised their three children. In 1965, Pat purchased Paloma Pat was a loyal San Diego sports fan and cheered on the Chargers and Padres along with his sons, daughter and grandchildren. He enjoyed golf, fishing and the horse races. Pat was also an avid Notre Dame fan. He made many trips to see the Irish play and pa Pat was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Mary Jean. He is survived by sister, Catherine Olvaney Stellema of Michigan City, IN; sons, Tom Olvaney of Escondido and Gary (Lora) Olvaney of Atlanta, GA; loving daughter Jan (Peter) Biundo of San Diego
