Theresa Marie Avila's Obituary
Teri passed away peacefully in Escondido, California on October 29, 2025. She was born in Riverside, California to Thomas and Nona Avila and was a proud member of the Pala Band of Mission Indians.
Teri was the life of the party and always ready for an adventure. She had a fearless spirit, willing to try anything once, and her laughter could light up any room. Whether she was heading out with the top down on her purple PT Cruiser or planning her next escapade, Teri lived life on her own terms, full of fun, freedom, and a little bit of mischief. She had a love for food, concerts, and casinos, and she could always turn even the simplest outing into a memorable experience.
Teri was also deeply proud of her sobriety, celebrating 35 years of living clean and helping to inspire others along the way. Her strength, honesty, and compassion touched many lives and showed what was possible through perseverance and faith.
Throughout her life, Teri worked many jobs, but her favorite role was being a mother and grandmother. She was endlessly proud of her children Robert, Justin, and Vanessa (d.1995) and her beloved daughters-in-law, Alison and Caitlin and adored her grandchildren, Destiny, Desiree, Seth, Derek, and Leo. Her family was her greatest joy, and she loved them deeply.
Teri’s spirit, humor, and love will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her. She leaves behind countless memories of laughter, love, and adventure that will continue to shine in the hearts of those she loved.
Forever in our hearts, her spirit sings with the birds and dances with the dawn.
In Honoring Her Spirit and Her Wishes we invite family and friends to join us in celebrating Teri’s life through a Native American funeral tradition of Bird Singers, dancers, food, love, and shared memories.
