Susan Marie Rowe Eubanks' Obituary
Susan Marie Rowe Eubanks (1967-2023)
Susan Eubanks, 56, of Escondido, California, lost her lifelong battle with depression on October 7, 2023. She was born in San Gabriel, California on June 18, 1967 to Wayne and Jean Rowe, and grew up in the Glendora, CA area with her brother Tom, graduating from Bishop Amat High School in La Puente, CA with the class of 1985.
In about 1992, she relocated to the San Francisco area, where she worked in human resources for several start-up companies, her favorite business challenge. She moved to San Diego in 2002 to be closer to family, remaining in HR. After the great recession, she decided to follow her passion and begin a secondary career teaching. In pursuit of this, she attended California State University and earned her teaching credential. When COVID hit, she focused her time on home and family.
She and James G. Eubanks, also of Escondido, were married on April 15, 2006 in a beautiful spot overlooking the Pacific Ocean. They have one child, Dani (also called Niall and Traves), 17, who is a senior in high school. The family lives with two dogs, Bernie and Chaos, Susan’s mother’s beloved Labrador, who moved in upon Jean’s passing.
Susan’s best friend throughout her life has been Trish Reardon, and they were notorious for their girls’ trips to visit one another and go on adventures together.
Susan was preceded in death by her mother, and is survived by her father, brother, husband, and child, and countless extended family members and friends who she counted among her ‘ohana.
One thing Susan was known best for was her love of Hawaii; Maui in particular. One of her favorite places was Lahaina, the town devastated by wildfires earlier in 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the Maui Strong Fund to support their work rebuilding. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who cared for her.
