Sue M. Nguyen's Obituary
To Our Family and Friends:
Thanks so much to all of you who have sent messages or called us with your condolences, thoughts and prayers to us and our family on the passing of our mother, Sue Nguyen, earlier this week.
Sue Nguyen, our mother, passed away peacefully on February 17th, 2017 at the age of 75. She was born on August 20th, 1941 in Vietnam. She left Vietnam in 1975, following the fall of Saigon, where she immigrated to the United States and settled in San Diego, establishing a new life and hope for a better future for her children. She was a loving mother who took on the responsibilities to raise four children following the passing of her husband, Coi Giap, of 23 years. She worked as an assembler making minimum wage but always found a way to provide for her family. She is survived by her children Phuong Giap, Thomas Giap, Hieu Giap, and Myke Giap, and by seven grandchildren. She was a woman of strong faith and it was her faith in God that helped her through the hard times. After a courageous and long battle with liver cancer, Jesus Christ has called her home.
Visitation will be at Alhiser-Comer, 225 S Broadway, Escondido 92025, on February 23, 2017 at 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a prayer starting at 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
We have arranged for a mass for our mom. It will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Church, where she attended and was a member for many years. The address is 1170 S. Broadway, Escondido 92025. Following the service, the burial will be at Oak Hills cemetery, 2640 Glenridge Rd, Escondido, 92027. We will be arranging a reception afterwards, with details upcoming and available after the burial.
