Sofia was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Librada Escalante; brother, Manual Escalante; and sister, Amparo Escalante. Sofia is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ignacio and Mary Escalante; sisters, Janie Meza and Gloria Escalante; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She attended and graduated school in Escondido. Sofia, known to those who loved her as "Auntie Sofie" or "Tia Sofia", was born in Texas. In 1942, at the age of six, Sofia, along with members of her family, moved to and settled in Escondido where she resided for 58 years before moving back to Valley Ce
