Shirley was born August 20, 1932 in Cameron Missouri, the second of four children. Her parents, James & Mary Evelyn Grace owned and operated the Cameron Hatchery. Growing up on a farm, Shirley enjoyed playing with her siblings and pet chickens. After graduating from Cameron High School she did secretarial work for an insurance agent in Cameron.
She married Marion Lee Salisbury in 1950, and relocated to San Diego when he began basic training at the Naval Training Center. They had two daughters, Nancy & Laura. Marion & Shirley divorced in 1971.

Cruising to Alaska and the Caribbean were new adventures she enjoyed immensely. Shirley had a heart of gold. She donated annually to the San Diego Wild Animal Park and was a proud and active member of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). She will always be remembered for her feistiness and generous heart.
She is survived by her brother James Grace, loving daughters, Nancy and Laura, granddaughter Kelly (Peter) Swales and great grandson Odon Swales.
Shirley is greatly missed by her family and friends
