Sally Dee Brey's Obituary
Sally Dee Brey, 68, died suddenly from an aortic aneurysm on November 23,105 in Escondido. Sally was born on September 12, 1947 to Donald and Maxine Anderson in Homewood, Illinois, but she spent the majority of her childhood in New England, where she attended school in both Connecticut and Massachusetts. After graduating from high school, Sally attended Drake University in Iowa and then Dean College in Massachusetts, where she pursued her interest in the arts. After receiving her AA degree, Sally moved to California looking for adventure. She took a secretarial job at Motorola and there she met the love of her life, Jerry Brey. Sally and Jerry were married in 1972 and Sally left her secretarial position to pursue a career in real estate sales. Ten years later, the two moved to Escondido, CA, when Jerry retired. Sally enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially loved to travel. During the last ten years of her life, she took numerous cruises and international vacation trips with a group of friends from her church. Sally was an avid quilter and enjoyed attending the theater, tending her garden, and collecting antique dishes. She was a long-time member of First Congregational Church of Escondido and served as a corporate officer at the church for over a decade. Sally's husband and parents predeceased her. She is survived by her many friends in Escondido, as well as her sisters, Susan Rodd of Bonita Springs, Florida, and Carol Ingraham of vineyard Haven, Massachusetts. Although Sally never had children of her own, she was a devoted godmother and she is also survived by her goddaughter, Shaedin Wheatland of Escondido. A Memorial Service will be held at First Congregational Church of Escondido on Saturday, December 12, at 1:00 p.m. Donations in Sally's memory can be made to First Congregational Church of Escondido, 1800 N. Broadway, Escondido, CA 92026.
