Rose Clare "Pat" Harper's Obituary
Pat Harper was born in Hammond, Indiana to John and Helen O'Connor. She attended Ball State Teacher's College, and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1935. she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority at Illinois. After graduation, Pat taught kindergarten in Hammond before moving to Coronardo, California where she met Bill Harper, her husband of 53 years. They were married no August 31, 1949 and moved to Massachusetts, where Bill attended Babson Institute.
After the couple returned to Southern California, Pat began teaching at Crown Point Elementary School in Pacific Beach. she remained on staff teaching kindergarten for 35 years until her retirement. She was also a volunteer to the charity group, Las Ayudas de los Ninos in San Diego.
After retirement, Pat and Bill traveled the world, especially enjoying cruises to Europe and the South Pacific. During this time, Pat and Bill moved to Casa de las Campanas in Rancho Bernardo. Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 2003, her brother, John O'Connor and her sister Helen Jean Brown. she is survived by 10 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews
