Rosalina Muyon Alcantara's Obituary
Rosalina Alcanatara, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
Rosa was born on March 24, 1927 in Manila, Philippines and was the daughter of Marcelino and Benita Muyon. She was the eldest of twelve, and is survived by two siblings.
In her youth, Rosa worked as a housekeeper for American missionaries where she learned to speak English, becoming fluent enough to earn work as a translator. She was married to Ciriaco Alcantara at the age of 16 on December 5, 1943, with whom she celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Rosalina immigrated to the United States in 1980, followed thereafter by her husband and children. There she worked as a seamstress at Joan Fabric for 7 years making lots of wedding dresses, doing alterations and much more. Some thought of her like Dorcas from the Bible.
She was a faithful member of the Tayabas Church of Christ in the Philippines, Alta Vista Church of Christ in South San Francisco, and Escondido Church of God for 29 years.” She remained active by walking, reading, shopping and doing word-searches. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. She lived in Escondido with her youngest daughter for 21 years, and was cared for by her three daughters in her later years of life.
Rosalina is survived by her nine children (Emmanuel, Jaime, Noemi, Ruben, Arial, Jonathan, Raquel, Azer and Miriam) along with twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren (including one on the way) and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996, and two of her children Jessie and Levita.
Rosalina was dearly loved by family and friends and will greatly missed.
