Rocco Morra's Obituary
With sorrow and sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of Rocco (Rocky) Morra on September 11, 2021 in Escondido, California surrounded by his loved ones.
Rocky is ever so lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Josie, children Mary Helen (David Happy), Vance (Leslie Morra) and Janey (Jason Wallace), grandchildren Julia, Alexandra, Jack, Sofia, Jenna and Siena, sister Cristina and brother-in law Luigi Colangelo. He will also be dearly missed by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Rocky was predeceased by his parents Vincenzo and Maria Morra, brother Pat Morra and sister Lina DiPiero.
Rocky was born in Monteleone di Puglia, Italy on January 2, 1945 and grew up on the family farm situated on a lovely isolated hilltop, surrounded by a beautiful landscape of lush meadows.
At the age of 13, Rocky and the family immigrated to Toronto, Canada in June 1958 to start a new life, in a new world. Rocky spent over 30 years in Toronto, marrying Josie, the love of his life, in 1965 and worked incredibly hard as a business owner and entrepreneur in the local community known as ‘The Beach’.
On the move yet again, Rocky fulfilled his dream of relocating the family to San Diego, California in January 1989 where he spent 32 years creating many more memories with family, friends and in business in Escondido, CA.
He deeply cherished time with family who adored him immensely for his kind, giving and emotional soul. For those fortunate to have been in the inner circle of this private, man of a few words, he was known for being a wonderful person, husband, dad, uncle, father-in-law, nonno, friend and 'comedian' this world had.
A special thank you from the family to Scripps Green Hospital in Torrey Pines, San Diego and the entire health team for the genuine care and compassion.
A private service for family will be held on September 19, 2021 with livestream at 11:00am PST via Zoom link
