Robert Lee Zarbock's Obituary
Robert Lee Zarbock, born January 19, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland, died February 21, 2016 in Escondido , California. He was preceded in death by parents, Adolph and Mildred Zarbock, and beloved cousin, David Zarbock. Also preceded in death by his very special Zinka Milanov. Robert served in the United States Army and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Robert's professional life in music was in New York City. He has been a resident of Escondido, California, since 1989. He leaves his cousins Robert C. Schmidt and wife Dorothy; Peter H Hames and wife Su; David C Hames and wife Mary Jane; Susan Nyce and husband Richard; Nancy Rasschaert and husband Jack; and Paula Z Peeden and husband Joseph. Younger cousins are Daniel Zarbock; Julie Dodge and husband Chuck; Joy Schwark and husband Brian; Beth Micke and husband Jerry; Rebecca Zimmerman and husband Terry; Sarah Peeden and husband Jagannathan Venkatesh; Joseph Peeden and wife Alex; and Preston Peeden.
He will also be sadly missed by his adored Mary Costa, Jane Paul-Hummel, and Jean Monroe. He was a member of the San Diego Opera Guild and was actively involved with the San Diego Symphony and the California Center for the Arts, Escondido..
Robert lived life with independence. His family, friends and music were his life. Donations are suggested to be made to the San Diego Opera, the San Diego Symphony and the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. A Memorial Reception will take place at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, 340 N. Escondido Blvd, Saturday, March 5, 1-3 pm.
