Richard Saldivar's Obituary
Richard Guerrero Saldivar, Beloved Husband, Loving Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Great-Great Grandfather, passed away January 17, 2017 at Audie Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio, TX. He was 92. Born May 21, 1924 in San Antonio, TX.
His United States Government career began when he joined the US Navy in September 1943 and was honorably discharged in December 1945, having participated in eight invasions during WWII aboard the USS LCI (G) 440.
He resumed his government career in October 1950 when he reported to Kelly Air Force Base in Texas as a portable equipment repairer. In September 1961 he reported to Naval Air Station, North Island, San Diego, CA as an Aircraft Metal Fabricator and through promotions he attained the position of Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aircraft). He retired on January 8, 1982 after 30 years of faithful service to his country.
Upon retirement he traveled throughout the United States with his wife Consuelo enjoying life to its fullest. During their travels in their RV they visited all of the continental United States, including Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Librado & Elodia Saldivar; his wife of 47 years, Consuelo Tovar Saldivar;seven brothers; Ralph, Librado,Jesse,John,Joe and Gilbert and five sisters; Antonia, Maria Gertrudis (Tules), Margarita, Hermelinda and Carmelita. Son-in-law; David; daughters-in-law, Sylvia, Linda and Gloria; one grandson Anthony and one great-grandson, Kobe.
He is survived by his six sons; Richard Moreno (Maria) Saldivar of San Antonio, Richard Tovar Saldivar of Leucadia, CA, Hector Tovar (Lolis) Saldivar of San Diego, Edward Tovar (Cindy) Saldivar of Green Cove Springs, FL, Jorge Tovar (Leticia) Saldivar of San Diego, CA, Tony Tovar Saldivar of San Diego, CA; four daughters Lupe Tovar (Dave) Henly of Colorado Springs, CO, Ana Maria (Frank) Vitale of San Antonio, TX, Olga Tovar Noel of Marietta, GA, Becky Tovar Saldivar of San Diego, CA. He has 49 grandkids (including spouses), 65 great-grandkids and 5 great-great grandkids.
