Richard Silvester Inga's Obituary
Richard Silvester Inga, 98, of Escondido, California, passed away on August 24, 2022 in Escondido, California.
Richard was born in Corona, California on June 9, 1924, and moved to Escondido with his family when he was two years old. He graduated in 1942 from Escondido High School, where he was a multi-sport letterman. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, and while stationed in Denver, Colorado, married his high school sweetheart, Alice, on July 2, 1943. When Alice passed away in September, 2015, they had just celebrated their 72nd anniversary.
Upon Richard’s discharge from the Army, he and Alice moved back to Escondido, where they resided the remainder of their lives. They purchased eight acres of property on Rock Springs Road, and raised four children at that property.
While residing on Rock Springs Road, Richard started his own electric motor and pump repair business. At the same time, he also drove bus for the Escondido High School District, and was actively involved in coaching Little League teams for many years. Later, he relocated his business to West Grand Avenue in Escondido, and finally sold the business and retired in 1990.
At that point, Richard and Alice enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home, where they made many life-long friends along the way. Also, in retirement, Richard enjoyed spending time on wood-working projects, fabricating numerous wood crafts for family and friends.
Richard was also an accomplished musician, playing the guitar, mandolin, and harmonica at family gatherings. He was an active member of the San Marcos High School Booster’s Club, where his children attended school, as well as an avid bowler and bocce ball player.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard, of Escondido, and his daughter, Joanne, of North Las Vegas, NV. He was predeceased by his wife, Alice; daughter, Janis; and son, Robert. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Richard’s life will be held at Community Lutheran Church, 3575 E. Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 2:00 pm.
