Richard Carrillo's Obituary
Born in Durango, Durango, Mexico, Richard was the eighth of eleven siblings. Growing up in Valley Center (Escondido), he attended and graduated from Orange Glen High School. He attended the University of California, Riverside and graduated with a degree in Mathematics. While there, he met his future wife Carol in their first year. On July 21, 1973, Richard and Carol were married at the Mission in Pala. They lived in Escondido where they raised their three sons. After graduating UCR, Richard worked as an engineer at Pacific Bell and later for GTE. One office was in the Los Angeles area, so he would often travel four hours a day. A caring provider, he even worked in Colorado briefly, and would travel home often He volunteered at the YMCA. There, he and his fellow Y's Men held many activities together. He enjoyed traveling with his fellow Y's Men around the world, visiting different countries, learning their unique cultures, and meeting new people. People were Richard was a devout Catholic. He joined the Knights of Columbus, and he earned the rank of fourth degree. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Mateo and Evarista Carrillo, and his sister Mercedes.
