Ret. Col. Charles Bogner's Obituary
He was born to August and Nell Bogner in Cedarville, CA and raised by Jim and Josie Wakefield on their ranches in Lakeview, Oregon. In high school, he worked as a clerk for Bert Snyder, the local drug store owner, who generously sent him to Oregon State College (now University), where he majored in Fish and Game Management. Later he returned to college to get a Masters degree in Range Management. World War II interrupted, and he was called up to active duty. He entered the US Army, Artillery Division as a 2nd Lt. in 1939. A few years later, he met the lovely Jean Spencer of Tacoma, Washington, who became his bride in 1942. Charles proudly served his country in campaigns in Africa, Italy, France and Central Charles and Jean were married 62 years at the time she passed away in 2005, and he knew he had to find new ways to live and fill the time alone. He began watercolor classes with a wonderful group in the RB art community. He belonged to the Audubon Socie He had many extended family members who loved and spent time with him in his Poway neighborhood. Helen and Kalani Jones, Kathy and Mark Wooster, and all their children, as well as Judy Manwell, Beth Hinkle, and many more. He is survived by all of these, The family wishes to thank the staff at Pomerado Hospital for their loving care in his final days.
