Quinton Lynn Koonce's Obituary
Quinton was born in Alameda at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital. His family moved to San Diego
around 1951. He loved baseball and earned money by collecting wagon loads of
newspapers. His woodworking began when he started collecting wood scraps from
nearby construction sites. Carpentry became his trademark. He served in the Coast
Guard Reserves. And in the 1960’s he had a reputation for being the fastest insulator in
San Diego County.
As a child, he loved attending many of the nearby Bible schools where he heard the
message of Jesus and was challenged to memorize verses from the Bible. He was
raised in a Christian home where our family prayed and read the Bible. So, the thread of a
personal relationship with Jesus ran through all of Quint’s life. God was faithful
throughout his life, those Bible verses he memorized returned to him at the low points
of his life. His faith was evident in those last months until he took his last breath
and passed from this world into Heaven.
Left behind are his sister Sharon Halverson and brother Duane (Linda) Koonce.
Quint had two children and five grandchildren.
His ashes are buried at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
