Quinton Koonce's Obituary
Quinton Koonce is survived by daughter Sharon Halverson; sons Quinton Lynn Koonce; Duane (Linda) Koonce; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Quinton graduated from Grand Saline High School in 1937. He enlisted in the Navy in 1938 and was sent from Texas to San Diego for basic training. He served on the Medusa during the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and was discharged in 1945. However, his On his return to duty in San Diego he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Lourens. They were married in 1946 and both professed faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior. Three children were added to the family and they settled in San Diego. Quinton retired in 1961 having served the USN for 22 years. He continued working for the government for 26 more years! The Lord blessed him with a long and rewarding career in Civil Service with his final retirement in 1986. He was devoted to his family and strived to be a faithful Christian example to all.
