Victor
I hereby offer my profound condolence on behalf of the Lladó-Diaz’s family. Paul was always very friendly and respectful towards the entire Díaz Family, as well as to all of us, the Lladó. My father, Uncle Joe to you, was very supportive of Lilliam and considered Paul to be a wonderful person.
When I was a child, I remember how impressed I was when I saw how tall he was, and how gentle he treated me. There was a time many years ago when I visited your family in Los Alamos, together with Aunt Esilda, and one of you rascals took me to see a gila monster in the nearby forest. Little did I know at the time how horrible and potentially dangerous they were, specially since I was phobic of lizards (ha, ha, ha, ha).
The last time I saw him was maybe 10 years ago when he came to Puerto Rico, and my brother and me took him to dinner at a famous local seafood restaurant, Pescadería Atlántica. We enjoy that encounter very much, even though he kept on talking about his excellent golfing performance.
To all of you, I share my deep sense of sorrow and empathy for such a profound loss. I lost my daughter Rosana a year ago, and even though these are deeply shattering experiences, believe me that these loved once don’t really go away forever, for they always remain within your heart and you can get in touch with them whenever you feel lonesome.
May you all be well and hopeful. Please don’t hesitate to call if you ever come by the island.
I embrace you all!!!
Víctor J. Lladó
