I am Hazel Lavender, retired RN who worked at Surgery Clinic, Long Beach Navy Hospital and Pat was my supervisor when she became Commander. Any time she encountered a lady who was bent over, she would tell me "Please Hazel never get like that." Well I'm not as straight as I was then. Forgive me, Pat.
Pat and I had a lot in common to include both being retired Navy nurses and hailing from New England. Whenever we were together, we would talk about our annual visits "back East." During my visit with Pat at the Redwood Terrace Rehab facility, she lamented about not being able to visit with her dear family members and friends. On behalf of the Navy Nurse Corps Association of Southern California, our sincerest condolences are offered to the family of Pat Clancy. Pat was an inaugural member of our organization, a past President, and a longtime member of our Board of Directors. Pat served the Navy with distinction, especially during her time at the Navy Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan receiving many wounded servicemen from Vietnam. We honor her faithful service. May she rest in peace and her loved ones be consoled.
