Nylene Steeples' Obituary
Nylene Steeples passed away peacefully on Monday, April 5th, 2021 in Escondido. She was 90.
Nylene was born August 16th, 1930 in Tulare, CA to Webster and Callie Lee Beebe. Web was a pharmacist and Nylene grew up throughout California (in Tulare, Oceanside, Bakersfield, Escondido). Web and Callie owned Beebe’s Rexall Pharmacy in Escondido where Nylene worked after school. She graduated from Escondido High School and San Jose State College.
On a blind date, Nylene met her husband Charles (Chuck) Steeples. They were married in 1953 and had three children: Greg, Tim, and Coleen. They were together for 58 years before his death in 2011. Chuck and Nylene made Escondido their home. She was an Officer of the Escondido Girls Club. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, reading histories and her ‘cozy’ mysteries, and chocolate. She always said “it’s not candy if it’s not chocolate”. Nylene and daughter Coleen were mall walkers who walked going the other way than everyone else - against the flow - so she could talk to all of her mall walker friends, and to be contrary.
Nylene was preceded in death by her husband Chuck, parents Web and Callie Beebe, and brothers Norman and Duane Beebe.
Nylene is survived by her children: Greg, Tim, and Coleen Steeples; grandchildren: Jennifer, Amanda, Matt, Chris, Nick, Josh, Teresa, Celeste, Marcus; 13 great grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
Your family and friends will miss your humor, kindness, and grace. The family thanks you for your love, support, always being there - you always put others before yourself. We will love you always.
