Norma Gloria Romero's Obituary
Norma Gloria Romero, who loved to be called “Mama” by her kids, departed her loving family on August 22, 2024.
Norma was born in San Diego on August 9, 1953, to Guadalupe Robles and Adalberto Robles.
Norma was mother to Luis, Leticia, Mario, and her angel baby Lydia. She raised her children with love and devotion in Escondido with her husband Luis.
Luis and Norma met when she came to Escondido to help her sister with her twins. They were married on November 9, 1974. They would have been celebrating their fifty-wedding anniversary.
Norma worked as a bus driver for the North County Transit Center and retirement homes and as a bus driver for the San Diego Aids Foundation. She permanently stopped working in the late nineties due to health problems. She later became a primary babysitter for her grandchildren. Norma had a big heart and always would help her family by taking care of her parents and helping her sister and her seven kids. She was always there for her family and others. She loves attending the San Diego Chargers with her son Mario. She loved to go out with her grandchildren and daughter.
She loved being Abuelita, her grandchildren were her life and gave her life. She is survived by her grandchildren Jessica, Noah, Abigail, Samantha, Ricky, Alexandro, Issac, Isabel, Natalia, Xavier. She would attend every soccer game and tournament, dance recitals, swim meets, FHA, awards assemblies, and graduations. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan.
Aside from the children and grandchildren she doted on, Norma is survived by siblings Beto Robles, Maria Lousia Gonzalez, her late brother Mario Romero, son-in-law Daniel Gonzalez, daughter-in-laws Renee Romero, Alyssa Romero, her adopted son and daughter Fred and Maria Santos, along with big family full of cousins, godchildren, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral Service and Rosary will be held at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary on September 11, from 4-8pm. The burial will be at Oak Hill Memorial Park September 12 at 1pm. Followed by reception at Norma and Luis house.
