Neil Marshburn's Obituary
October 13, 1938 - April 1, 2018
Neil Marshburn, 79, died at home early Easter morning, April 1.
He was born to Douglass and Mary Marshburn of Orange, CA, the fifth of six children. He grew up in a farming community, and upon graduation from San Luis Obispo with a degree in soil science, went to work on his father's orange grove in Pauma Valley, becoming the managing general partner for many years. He loved the citrus industry!
Neil centered his life on faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord from a very young age. He raised his children to know and love Jesus Christ and also taught junior high age Sunday school for over 40 years. His heart's desire was for these kids to not just know about Jesus Christ, but to know Him via their own relationship with Him.
He greatly loved his family! Neil married Julia Irene Tappe in 1960. They raised five children, Wesley, Bryce, Mary Beth, Robb, and Patti, making great memories on water skiing trips, hunting trips, fishing trips, Little League games, etc. He was fun-loving and a bit of a jokester and he wanted his kids to have a good time. They did until Julia's early death in 1981 after losing a battle with cancer.
In 1987 Neil met and married Elaine Ayoub Marshburn, and they had 30 years of enjoying each other and 12 fabulous grandkids, and grandkids-in-law.
Neil is survived by his sister, Margaret Estes, of Mt. Vernon, WA, his wife, Elaine, the five children: Wes, Bryce (Tami), Mary Beth (Tony), Robb, Patti (Jason) and grandkids Jessi (Cristian), Seth-Adam, Coty (Courtney), Mason, Ethan, Timothy, Caleb, Micah, Levi, Julia, David and Daniel, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 4:00 -8:00 pm, Thursday, April 5 at Alhiser-Comer in Escondido. He will be buried Friday, April 6 at 2:30 at Oak Hill cemetery, with the memorial service Saturday, April 7, 2 p.m. in the chapel at Emmanuel Faith Community Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmanuel Faith Community Church with a memo indicating it is for Jr. High scholarships.
