Mildred H. Thien's Obituary
A loving wife and mother as well as friend of the community, Mildred Herout Thien died May 23, 2013, at age 91. Mildred, who lived in Escondido for 67 years, served nine years on the Library Board and decades with the Palomar Hospital Auxiliary. Also, she greeted patients as the manager of her husband's optometry practice. In the Women's Army Corps, Mildred earned medals for her overseas service during World War II. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Stanley Thien, and her daughter, Erin. She is survived by sons Glae and Stanley Jr., each of Escondido; and five grandchildren.
