Husband, Father, Brother, Son…
Uncle, Grandpa and Friend.
Mike had many, diverse talents and a wealth of knowledge. He could do anything – fix cars, remodel, build furniture, decorate, cook and bake. We’ll all remember his pizzas…
Mike was a Jack-of-All-Trades, self-taught and self-sufficient. He created beautiful homes, inside and out. His artistry and craftsmanship awed many.
Mike was a strong man, of spirit and body. He was steadfast in his convictions and pursuit of doing things ‘the right way’; he was a perfectionist. Ultra organized, everything was in its place. Mike worked so hard for his family and instilled his incredible work ethic in his children.
Mike loved his family dearly, providing for us throughout his entire life. We could turn to Dad for advice and always count on him to come to our rescue (like the time he got the panicked call from me en route to a college final with a flat tire or the time Mom, Sue and I were about town for Sue’s wedding activities only to have the car conk out).
Mike was a private man, with a compassionate and tender side not seen by many. He was deeply devoted to his wife, Joyce, surprising her with gestures of his love when she’d least expect it. He was so proud of his children and the lives they built. Mike touched many lives, in many unique ways.
While Mike and his sparkling blue eyes will be missed among us, we take comfort knowing he is at peace. We will continue to feel his presence, especially when doing something ‘the right way’. Mike will still be watching over us, taking care of us, as always.
