Mary was preceded in death by her dear brother, James V. Smith. She is survived by devoted niece, Nancy Dowling, and her family; and loving stepson, David Soncrant, his wife Judy and their family. She also leaves behind life-long friends, Maxine Maberry and Gwen Sutowski. She lived for many years in the Detroit, Michigan area and worked her way through Wayne State College. She was born in Dayton, Ohio to Rudolph F. Smith and Carrie L. Trigg. She was a WWII widow of Marvin, who died on Omaha Beach in France. She served as a probation officer in Detroit.
