IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS TO HEAR OF A GREAT AUNT OF THE TORMEY FAMILY PASSING. I CAN REMEMBER VISITING GREAT UNCLE BOB AND AUNT MARY ELLEN BACK IN 1961 IN DOWNEY, HAVING MADE THE TRIP WITH MY GRANDPARENTS, LEO AND DONNA TORMEY. IT WAS GREAT TO MEET SOME OF MY TORMEY RELATIVES AND THEY MADE ME FEEL SO WELCOME AND SPECIAL, A TIME I WILL ALWAYS CHERISH AND REMEMBER. I have so many lovely memories of grandma. Today, I thought of the time she came to my house before my first homecoming dance to get pictures of me all dressed up. Every birthday, graduation and celebration, she was there supporting my siblings and I and we miss her terribly. Thank you Bob for being there for grandma and us too. This will be a tough Christmas without her, but grandma gave me enough love to last a lifetime.
A very special memory for me is arriving at the annual Tormey/Scarry family golf tournement and the first person I wanted to give a hug to was my Aunt Mary. She not only was a direct connection with my dad who passed some years ago but I felt honored to be named after her. My husband, Steve also shares a connection with Aunt Mary as they have the same birthday and she seemed to be just fine with sharing that day with him. I will miss running into her and Bob around Escondido but she will always be in my heart.
