Mary Frances Ehrhart's Obituary
Frances Ehrhart was born August 1st. 1933, in Chicago, Illinois. She attended St. Killian Catholic grade school and the Academy of Our Lady at Longwood high school. She chose the name “Bernadette” at Confirmation. Her parents, Mel & Lou Bos, moved to California, and she finished her last year of High School at Holy Family in Glendale where our daughter also graduated.
Frances met Ed in the choir loft of Holy Redeemer Catholic church in Montrose. Love blossomed across the choir loft, and the choir sang at their wedding a year later in November 1957. They’ve made beautiful music together ever since.
Frances raised our two children, Jim & Terri, and was a full-time homemaker in Glendale.
She sang in the California Women’s Chorus, and also in a trio who performed at various venues in Southern California.
Frances & Ed traveled in their later years, 5 times to Hawaii, Alaska north of the artic circle, South America below the equator, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Portugal, Austria, and Israel.
From 1988 to 2021 she had a series of 11 surgeries totaling three knee replacements, three hip replacements, both femurs and repairs. Frances had the best legs money could buy. She developed Diabetes, survived one stroke, wore glasses and hearing aids.
In November 1997 she retired with her husband, Ed, to Cypress Court Senior Living in Escondido.
In 1999 Frances sang our National Anthem at a Padres game.
Frances & Ed were the Cypress Court entertainment on New Year’s Eve going into the new Millenium.
Frances enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and doing crossword puzzles.
Near the end of May 2023, she was admitted to Palomar Emergency four times in two and a half weeks.
Frances Ehrhart passed away on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023, at Palomar Hospital in Escondido. She was just 8 weeks shy of being 90 years of age.
Viewing is on Wednesday, June 14th, starting at 4 p.m. at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary,
225 S. Broadway in Escondido. Rosary follows at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass is on Thursday, June 15th, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary church, 1170 S. Broadway, Escondido.
Reception at Cypress Court Senior Living, 1255 N. Broadway, from noon until 2 o’clock.
Interment at 2:30 p.m. is at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery,
4050 Mission Ave, Oceanside, CA 92057.
Family Dinner at Cypress Court Private Dining Room is at 4 p.m.
