Friday, July 4, 2025: Watched the fireworks from City Hall / Grape Day Park in Escondido. The Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band performed for the fireworks. There was a large crowd. Betsy, I love you, Luis.
Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2025: In honor of all those who served, and not just in the military. That includes you, Betsy, and me as well. This past Saturday, May 17, 86 persons graduated from CSU San Marcos with their Master of Social Work (MSW) degree. Betsy, they do not know this, but it was made possible by what you and I did in founding the CSUSM MSW program. We made it happen. You are simply the best social worker I have ever known.

Sunday, April 27, 2025: The annual Elizabeth Hospice Wings of Hope event was held in the conference center and adjacent lawn at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. There was a large gathering. A social worker, Susan Hannifan-MacNab, MSW, gave a presentation. Luis, Mona, Girma, and other relatives were there. Betsy's name and the names of other relatives were in the printed program. Betsy, I love you. Luis

Betsy is a great-grandmother for the first time. A baby girl, Amelia, was born the evening of February 26, 2025.
Today is Tuesday, February 25, 2025, your 85th birthday. Happy Birthday, Betsy. Your birthday balloon from Alice is still in its same place. And so are your birch table and chairs. The recent rains, after nearly a year of no rain, have revitalized your garden. The jade plants are looking bright and full. The cactus are doing well. The bougainvillea by the upper gate is blooming. All the trees have been trimmed as needed, and are looking good. I keep watch over your garden as I promised you, and keep it trimmed and cleaned. Your garden mementos are as you left them. The corner lot across from our place is being graded and leveled, and soon a new home will be built. And I hear from Don that Joshua and Mary are expecting a baby girl today, so your first great grandchild is being born into the world. Our blessings to them. Betsy, I love you, Luis
