Marion Curtis Wetter
Marion Curtis Wetter, age 90, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on September 30, 2015. He was born and raised in the small town of Rinard, Iowa. He joined the navy during WWII and did his service on the aircraft carrier USS White Plains which fought in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. After the war he moved to California where he worked for Pacific Telephone Company. During that time he had the opportunity to work and live in the Aleutian Chain, Greenland the Faroe Islands, Iran and England. After 30 years of service to the phone company he retired and traveled, square danced, went on Elderhostels and was generally busier than when he was working.
He is predeceased by his first wife Terry and his son Curtis and survived by daughters Beth McIntyre and Susan Haythorne, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He is also predeceased by his 2nd wife Betty and survived by stepsons Grant and Stan and stepdaughter Jan, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary in Escondido on Saturday October 10 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be sent to the American Cancer Society or blood donations be made at the Bloodmobile. Marion was a member of the 10 gallon club and made donations as often as he could throughout his life.
