Lucia "Lucy" Hurtado Palacio's Obituary
Lucia "Lucy" Hurtado Palacio, (82) passed away at Palomar Hospital on Friday January 24, 2014. She was born on October 21, 1931, in Escondido to parents Miguel and Marina Hurtado and dedicated much of her life caring for her family and working at Palomar Hospital where she retired. Lucy will forever be remembered for her loving and warm-hearted smile and the way she graciously cared for her loved ones.
She was a devoted mother, companion, grandmother, daughter, and sister. Survivors include her companion Arturo "Marcos" Garcia; daughters, Sandra Rodriguez, Ceci Palacio, Sonia Palacio, and Leticia Taufahema; sons, Jaime Palacio, and Gonzalo Palacio. She also leaves behind her sisters, Ana Maria Serrato, Maria Elena Serrato, Aurora Carranza, and Alicia Cortez; her brother Carlos Gamez; 17 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
Her celebration of life will be held at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary at 225 South Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025 on Thursday at 5:00 p.m.; Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held Friday at Saint Mary's Catholic Church at 1160 South Broadway, Escondido 92025. Internment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park, 2640 Glenridge Rd., Escondido 92027.
