Leona (Wells) Knappe's Obituary
Mrs. Knappe is survived by her daughter Arlene Shuster (Bob) Phyllis Churchill, and Joyce Scurlock (Ken); grandchildren Alan Cook (Carlene), Alyse Dunlap (Steve), Jon Cook (Susie), Zachary Churchill, Jim Grizzell (Kim), Jana Scott (Chip); great grandchildren, Jillian and Jacob Cook; Trevor, Caitlin and Keegan Dunlap, Alexis and Kylie Grizzell, and Danielle and Darrel Stott; step-great-grandsons, Don, Ed, and Ben Verdugo. Her dear sister-in-law, Leona Wells as well as numerious nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Oscar Knappe in 1989. She graduated from San Diego High School, where she excelled in academics and on the tennis courts. At one time, Oscar and Leona owned and operated the Fabric Mart on Grand Ave., in Escondido. She retired as manager of the House of Fabrics located in the then Escondido Mall. She was known as a superb seamstress and cook. She enjoyed creating French Tol The family suggests memorial donations, in the name of Leona Knappe, to the Grace Lutheran Memorial Fund, 643 W. 13th Ave., Escondido.
