Larry A. Szakacs' Obituary
Larry A. Szakacs lost his life on Sunday, November 11, 2012 after a long and heroic battle with a debilitating illness. He was born on July 22, 1949 in Memphis, Tenn.
Larry met and married the love of his life, Connie Marie, and shared 31 years together. Larry is survived by Connie; two sons, Frankie and Michael; eight grandchildren; sisters, Jean Kulig and Susan Buxton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Thelma. At age 18, Larry enlisted in the Marine Corps and served valiantly in Vietnam, was awarded the Purple Heart and was devoted to the Corps until his passing. He then embarked on a highly successful career with Konica Minolta receiving many national awards Larry and Connie relocated to Escondido in 1996 where they enjoyed great friendships and golfing at the Escondido Country Club. He served as president of the Men's Golf Association and was a great competitor in both team play and weekly men's skins group Larry's larger than life personality will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Larry's name to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
