Kevin L. Taggart's Obituary
Kevin Taggart was born in Racine, WI on May 7, 1949 to parents Patrick and Mary. He was the 5th of 8 children. He met Mary Wiegand in Kenosha, WI at the Brat Stop. They were married on February 22, 1972 and remained married for 52 years until his passing.
At a young age, Kevin was fascinated with flying. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, he enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam war. In the USAF, he realized his goal of becoming a pilot. He flew a number of jets and was assigned as Captain for the KC-135 aircraft that refueled jets midair.
Two sons, Kelly and Kevin, were born to Kevin and Mary while assigned at Beale Air Force Base. After 6 years of active duty, he was Honorably Discharged in 1977. He was hired as a commercial airline pilot and flew for American Airlines out of San Diego for 32 years before retiring at the rank of Captain. He proudly claimed the “number of his take offs matched the number of his landings.”
They settled in Rancho Bernardo and lived in Poway since 1993. Kevin served his Country, provided for his family, and developed many lifelong friendships in the community. He is survived by his wife, Mary, his two sons, and 7 grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held Friday November 22nd @ 10am at the Miramar National Cemetery.
